Dr. Contreras obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). He completed his master’s degree and doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Penn State University (PSU). He completed his pre-doctoral training in Los Angeles at Didi Hirsch Community Mental Health Clinic and his post-doctoral training from the University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA).
Dr. Contreras maintained his private practice in Los Angeles for several years and moved back to El Paso in 2017 where he continues to practice.
He recently graduated from New Mexico State University (NMSU) with a master’s degree in clinical psychopharmacology and is working towards licensure to obtain prescribing privileges in the state of New Mexico.
